Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Confirmed
George Osbourne has confirmed that the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will be going ahead next year, November 2011. The government has allocated a funding pot of £860million and the incentives are expected to drive a more-than-tenfold increase of renewable heat over the coming decade, shifting renewable heat from a fringe industry firmly into the mainstream. Details of the tariffs and how the scheme will operate will be announced before the end of this year with the scheme commencing into force in June 2011. This means that commercial and domestic property owners can proceed with their renewable heat installation without delay.  The scheme will give homeowners the benefit of energy, Co2 and fuel cost savings as well as significant additional financial support from the government.

March 2010  :  The Auchrannie Hotel has also now joined the "green revolution" on the Island of Arran. The hotel Estate Manager, Billy Richardson, already had his hands full with the winter refurbishments and the construction of seven new lodges, but now he also had to deal with the complicated delivery of the new ”green energy” biomass system. The new biomass power plant will be fuelled by woodchips from Arran Woodfuels and will provide sustainable energy for the hotels very busy laundry, swimming pool, leasure club facilities as well as much of the house hotel. This innovative renewable energy heating system is just a small part of Auchrannie Hotels' long term plan for reducing the carbon footprint of the resort, and maintaining their current Green Business Tourism Award.

December 2009:  The Kinloch Hotel has taken a major step forward by installing a large-scale renewable energy heating system. The 400kW woodchip heat centre is the first major wood biomass heating installation on the island. Arran Energy Ltd played a major part in obtaining financial grant assistance as well as co-ordinating the design, build, delivery and commissioning of the plant. Arran Woodfuels will supply the woodchip fuel on a regular basis over the lifetime of the equipment.

July 2009 :  Several Arran householders have now decided to embrace biomass wood pellets as their new heating fuel and do away with depending on fossil fuels. Three new heating installations are now completed and their proud owners are looking forward to lower heating bills next winter. These wood pellet heating systems provide a good cross-section of the equipment available, from room heating to central heating. These appliances can be viewed on Arran and the owners questioned on the benefits offered by the modern technology, please contact us for more details.
