March 2010 : The Auchrannie Hotel has also now joined the "green revolution" on the Island of Arran. The hotel Estate Manager, Billy Richardson, already had his hands full with the winter refurbishments and the construction of seven new lodges, but now he also had to deal with the complicated delivery of the new ”green energy” biomass system. The new biomass power plant will be fuelled by woodchips from Arran Woodfuels and will provide sustainable energy for the hotels very busy laundry, swimming pool, leasure club facilities as well as much of the house hotel. This innovative renewable energy heating system is just a small part of Auchrannie Hotels' long term plan for reducing the carbon footprint of the resort, and maintaining their current Green Business Tourism Award.
