Wood Pellets

Wood pellets are a modern biomass fuel that help reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere and help combat climate change. Brites are produced in industrial quantities by Balcas Timber Ltd in Enniskillen & Invergordon and are proving extremely popular in both Scotland and Ireland.

Arran Woodfuels hold large stocks on Arran in 10 kg sacks ready for immediate local delivery. We are also currently investigating the possibilities of introducing a bulk service to our customers on Arran.

Wood pellet fired heating is best used in buildings with heating requirements of less than 30kW.

What are Wood Pellets made from?

The only material in the pellets is natural wood - there are no additives or artificial binding agents. During the pellet making process the natural resin or lignin present in the wood naturally moves to the surface of the pellet creating a protective coating which helps the pellet keep its structure. This provides peace of mind for you, your family and your environment.

Environmentally & User Friendly:

The days of rolled up newspapers and rolled up sleeves are past. Modern pellet stoves can be ignited & controlled automatically using a device like a TV controller - just point and click.

Modern pellet stoves and boilers are fed automatically and the heat output is regulated just like any central heating system. Ash levels are extremely low and some boiler units remove the ash automatically.

The small amount of ash that is removed is very high in nutrients (potash) and can be used as a high grade natural fertiliser in the garden. The heat output from the pellet units can be controlled and programmed to meet the specific needs of the user.
